CHECK IN TIME IS 4pmTraverse City Cottage Co has a self-check-in process. You will receive a keyless entry code via email on the day of your arrival. Please arrive after 4 pm and send us a text when you arrive.

CHECK OUT TIME IS 10amWe are very strict on the check-out times during summer and late summer reservations. Additional charges may occur if our cleaning staff cannot access the home or cottage by 10am. If you think you may need additional time, please let us know several days in advance so we can schedule our housekeeping staff accordingly. We will try to accommodate your request. If you request a 12 noon (or later) checkout, our charge is 50% of the daily rate. Please check our detailed clean up-list so there will not be any question about whether you will be responsible for additional cleaning charges. Renters are responsible for leaving the cottage in the condition in which you found it; any damage will be paid by the renter. You will receive a checkout email with a complete checkout list that you will need to complete before your departure.

DEPARTURE CHECKLIST– Place all dirty towels on the bathroom floor, do not strip beds (leave unmade)
– Wash, dry and put away all dishes
– Remove all food items from refrigerator and freezer
– Bag all trash and take to the large garbage totes
– Remove all returnable bottles and cans
– Turn off lights, close windows and unplug coffee maker
– In cold weather, turn thermostat(s) to 58 degrees
– Please lock the door on your way out

RESERVATION POLICYA deposit equal to one night’s stay plus tax is due at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due no later than 30 days prior to arrival. Accepted payment methods include Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover, or personal check (received at least 30 days before arrival). There is no additional guest information form or reservation agreement required.

All cancellations must be in writing or email. As of August 1st 2024, a cancellation fee of 25% of the down payment amount will be applied to all cancelled reservations. In the event of a cancellation or Traverse City Cottage Co has to cancel the reservation due to non-payment of balances due, cancellation charges are as follows:

Shoulder & Off Seasons (Labor Day thru June 15th)– More than 90 Days prior to arrival: 25% of the down payment amount.
– Less than 90 days and more than 30 days: 25% of the down payment amount.
– Less than 30 days and more than 15 days: 25% of the down payment amount plus an additional $50.
– Less than 15 days and more than 2 days: 25% of the down payment amount plus $100.
– Less than 2 days: 100% of rental amount.

Peak Season (June 15th thru Labor Day)– More than 90 days before arrival date: 25% of the down payment amount plus $100 cancellation fee per cottage.
– Less than 90 days and more than 60 days before arrival date: 25% of the down payment amount plus $150 per cottage.
– Less than 60 days and more than 30 days before arrival date: 50% of rental amount.
– Less than 30 days before arrival: 100% of rental amount for all units.

You will be sent a separate email with a packing list for what is provided and what you should bring. It is as follows:

– Shampoo and soap
– Sanitizer wipes
– Toilet paper, Kleenex, and paper towel (2-day supply will be provided)
– 13-gallon tall kitchen bags (2-day supply will be provided)
– Summer guests should bring life vests and beach towels
– Bring extra lawn chairs. Two Adirondack chairs and a picnic table will be provided for each cabin.
– Specialty cooking utensils or spices (salt & pepper provided)
– Water toys (blowup inner tubes or chairs)

Parking spaces are limited to 1 car for each cottage. Unless arrangements are made in advance, a charge of $100 per car will be charged for each car on the premises that exceeds the limit.

The cottages are about a 10 minute drive from downtown Traverse City.

The cottages are about a 40 minute drive from Sleeping Bear Dunes. The national park spans many miles, so it kind of depends which part of the park you are going to.
